The Hudson Valley is known for its vibrant arts scene, and local artist Kaitlin Van Pelt is a shining star in this creative constellation. As the talented mind behind this year’s Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival poster, Kaitlin brings her unique blend of passion,talent, and creativity to the forefront.
Living in New York’s Hudson Valley since 2005, Kaitlin has immersed herself in various artistic endeavors, from being a prolific portrait artist and illustrator, to designer, and musician. Her work reflects a playful yet detailed approach, showcasing her fierce draftsmanship and keen eye for composition.
What sets Kaitlin apart is her ability to capture the essence of her subjects, whether they’re people, pets, or landscapes. Her artwork adorns the walls of many homes, and she’s well-known for her expertise in portraits, including babies, wedding scenes, and beloved furry companions.
But Kaitlin’s creativity doesn’t stop at visual art—she’s also deeply rooted in the local music scene, having created album artwork for Hudson Valley musicians like Laura Stevenson, Michael Hollis, Los Doggies, and Breakfast in Fur.
Outside of her artistic pursuits, Kaitlin finds joy in exploring the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley with her husband, son, and mini schnauzer. Whether it’s hiking in the Shawangunks or admiring the scenic wonders of the Catskills, she draws inspiration from the region’s breathtaking landscapes.
As Kaitlin embarks on this new chapter of motherhood with her one-year-old son Charlie, she looks forward to infusing her art with a renewed perspective and sense of wonder.
